National Day Celebrations - Connect Singapore

We celebrated our Nation's Birthday in a big way! Pupils all over Singapore joined hands and recited the Pledge together on the 8th August 2008 to display 'Connectedness' and to celebrate National Day!

Our Lower Primary pupils also participated and some of them were even involved in forming a heart shape in the Parade Square. It was very well done, considering how fidgety the young ones could be. =) Enjoy the photos!

Molly the Mobile Bus

Dear all,

Molly the mobile bus was here yesterday, 31st July! The children were most amazed that bus can contain a mini library! There was even an e-borrowing kiosk within the bus!

Most of the children had borrowed books from Molly either with their Ez Link cards or by manually computation (children to give their ID numbers to the NLB personnel)

Please be reminded that all books are to be returned to the nearest NLB branch and NOT our school library. Thank you for your cooperation. Enjoy the photos I've taken~

Racial Harmony Day

We celebrated Racial Harmony Day on the 21st July 2008, Monday. Some of the children came in their traditional costumes and we viewed an enriching concert put up by the Upper Primary children. During recess, the pupils had an experience making 'Epok Epok', tasting 'Tang Yuan' and doing 'Kolam'! There were other activities at the rest of the booths too. Take a look at the photos taken! Enjoy~

Racial Harmony Day (Chinese: 种族和谐日) is celebrated annually on 21 July in Singapore. The event is to commemorate the 1964 Race Riots, which took place on 21 July 1964.
Racial Harmony Day also represents a day for
schools to reflect on, and celebrate Singapore's success as a racially harmonious nation and society built on a rich diversity of culture and heritage. In schools all across the nation on that day, students are encouraged to be dressed in their traditional costumes such as the Cheongsam and the Baju Kurung. Traditional delicacies are also featured in the celebrations. Traditional games such as Kutih-kutih and zero point are played in schools, where inter-class competitions are sometimes organised.
